Snowmaggedon 2020

• The city of St. John’s experienced history this week with a severe winter blizzard. With close to 80 cm of snow fallen within 30 hrs and gale or hurricane force winds of up to 135 km/hr, the city has been paralyzed with a state of emergency declared the next day. To make matter worse, another intense one came one day after dumping another further 15 cm of heavy wet snow. St. John’s and vicinity municipalities such as Mt Pearl and Paradise and a few others followed suit as well. Only emergency vehicles, snow plows or those essential services workers who have permission to use their vehicles are allowed to easy efficient snow clearing to allow the city and municipalities to return to normal routines.
